Welcome to Alsace Urgent Care and Family Practice! Our clinic was founded in 2009 by two ex-medical flight surgeons who met during the Desert Storm operation while serving our country. They fell in love with the wonderful community of Castroville, Texas, and realized there was a great need for a comprehensive clinic that could cater to a variety of medical needs. At our clinic, our patients always come first, and we strive to maintain the highest standards of medical care and quality.   • What is an urgent care center?

    An urgent care center is for patients with unexpected and/or sudden medical conditions that require treatment normally within 24 hours. When experiencing a non-life-threatening injury or illness, a patient can receive treatment at Alsace Urgent Cares locations, rather than seeking treatment at an emergency room.


    If the patient is in a life-threatening situation, call 911 right away for care.

  • Do I need to make an appointment to visit an urgent care?

    You do not need an appointment to visit any of the Alsace Urgent Care clinics. Walk-ins are welcome!

  • What kind of doctor will treat me in an urgent care?

    Alsace Urgent Care centers are staffed by physicians and nurse practitioners who are skilled in the treatment of non-life-threatening injuries and illnesses. ALL our providers have practiced and trained in local emergency rooms.

  • Do urgent care centers provide occupational health services?

    Alsace Urgent Cares offer a full range of occupational medicine services. Whether you need drug screening or care for an employee with a work-related injury, we will help employers meet the medical requirements authorized by Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), corporate policies, and federal/state laws.

  • What services are offered at urgent care centers?

    Urgent care centers can diagnose and treat a variety of non-life-threatening injuries and illnesses. This includes:

    • Allergies
    • Asthma
    • Vomiting & diarrhea
    • Dehydration
    • Acute & chronic pain
    • Cold & flu symptoms
    • Sports injuries, sprains, & strains
    • Sports physicals
    • Employment physicals
    • Burns
    • Cuts

    Our urgent care centers are also equipped with in-house laboratories (Quest and CLIA Waived Lab Testing). In addition, we provide primary care and occupational health services.

  • Can urgent care do stitches?

    Alsace Urgent Care clinics can stitch up minor injuries.

  • Can urgent care perform diagnostic imaging?

    Our Castroville clinic has in-house X-ray.

  • Can urgent care provide primary care services?

    Alsace Urgent Care can provide primary care for patients who do not have an established family physician.  Appointments can be made for primary care at all three locations.

  • Does my insurance cover urgent care?

    Most insurances do cover urgent care visits. The question is whether an urgent care center accepts your particular insurance.

Common Alsace Urgent Care Office Questions

  • How much does an urgent care visit cost at Alsace Urgent Care Center?

    Your insurance status and plan will determine what your cost will be. Generally speaking, a co-pay for the visit itself will range from $35-$75, with lab tests and other services possibly increasing that total. Additional services such as lab tests, x-rays, medications, and other services may be additional costs. Please make sure to talk with your provider about the costs prior to receiving treatment.


  • What insurance does Alsace Urgent Care and Family Practice accept?

    Alsace Urgent Care accepts Medicare, PPO, and Self Pay. Additionally, the clinic is likely in-network for most major commercial carriers including BlueCross Blue Shield, United Health, Aetna, and Cigna. Depending on your specific insurance plan, your out of pocket visit cost will vary. Contact the clinic directly for further details.

  • How do I make a booking at Alsace Urgent Care and Family Practice?

    Alsace Urgent Care  is a walk-in clinic. You should be able to arrive unannounced during  normal business hours and be seen without an appointment. You may, however, want to call ahead to check their current wait time.


  • What are the primary services of Alsace Urgent Care and Family Practice?

    Alsace Urgent Care Center treats a range of non-emergent injuries and illnesses, as well as provides certain preventative care. More specifically, Alsace Urgent Care will provide a variety of vaccinations, annual exams and sports physicals, general lab tests and screenings, and diagnose and treat routine conditions like the common cold, flu, infections, rashes, allergies, strep throat, and more.

  • Does Alsace Urgent Care offer telemedicine?

    Yes! Little Alsace Urgent Care Center offers video visits, or telemedicine appointments through Solv allowing you on-demand, virtual access to the same providers that you would otherwise see in-person.
